1926 ROTOR became a patent in Switzerland for the first Live-Center worldwide. Characterisitcs were adjustable needle bearings and a disc spring which protects thrust bearings from over pressure.
1927 Family Scherler bought the patent of ROTOR and founded a company which produced and sold the first ROTOR Live-Centers. In the first years of existence new business partner in England, France and Austria could be found.
1941, Hans Scherler launched an identical Live-Center product called Favor after the patent of ROTOR was expired.
ROTOR became a name in Northern America when a European Family in Canada was very successful in selling Live Centers. In the sixties the share of market was around 50%. Until today KAR Ltd. is one of the most important ROTOR customers.
ROTOR is the no. 1 in Switzerland for Live-Centers. ROTOR became a technical term in the Live-Center business.
1982, after Mrs. Scherler's death, a company called Holzegger AG (Rapperswil) bought the rights on ROTOR. Thanks to very good partners in Switzerland and abroad, ROTOR grew contisnuously.
1992, Roider Präzisionsmechanik bought the whole ROTOR range as a good introduced product.
1993, new lines could be launched on the occasion of the EMO in Hannover. Eco-Line Centers and Driving-Centers extended the range.
1995 Monika and Daniel Roider founded the new ROTOR TOOL GmbH. All ROTOR activities were settled by this company from that point. ROTOR became first supplier of several machine manufacturers. Super Accurate Centers (HP-Line) helps to meet high demands in hard turning and grinding.
1997 IS 9001 Certification
1999 a new and bigger plant in Oetwil am See could be bought.
2007 in March 2007 ROTOR provides an opportunity to acquire Graber High-Precision Chucks (PML). Since then chucks, air feed tubes and jaws is part of ROTOR's product range.
